Customer Review: Amazed!
I was so please by the timeliness that this order was processed! I have ordered from other sites for Halloween costumes and have been extremely disappointed with their customer service regarding the lack of efficiency and their failure to deliver by Halloween, but PrettySinful receives an A+! I even ordered three other orders from them as well, just because I was so super pleased with the quality of service!

Some celebrations are really special, and Hogmanay celebrated in Edinburgh is one of those celebrations indeed. A wealth of fun and partying goes on during this special time that turns a New Years celebration into something much bigger.

The Celebrations begin with a huge parade through the streets of Edinburgh city centre with all the participants carrying torches of fire. This incredible string of light is something spectacular to see, and ordinary people can be a part of it for a small fee. It's best to get your ticket in advance though as there are only a limited number of torches available and of course many more people want to take part than can carry torches.

Many hotels in Edinburgh have special tariffs for Hogmanay, and these can include tickets for various events that take place. If you've never stayed in Edinburgh during this festive season then you'll be in for a very big treat - assuming you enjoy a good party that is!

Various events from street theatre to street parties take place over Hogmanay, but the main event of the season is of course the New Years Eve celebrations. On New Years Eve, the city centre comes to life and a Street Party Pass can be bought which will allow you to be a part of various different events across the centre. Everyone joins in, and drinks flow and lots of food is eaten including some traditional fayre such as black bun. A traditional piper pipes in the New Year with a lone tune in the lead up to the clocks striking midnight, and then the party really kicks off with everyone hugging each other, and wishing each other a Happy New Year, linking arms and singing Old Lang Syne.

First footing is a wonderful Scottish tradition, to help bring luck to a household it is said that a tall dark haired man bearing gifts should be the first to cross the threshold of any home in the New Year. Traditionally the gift he carries should be a piece of coal or black bun, but these days that part is often left out, but the guest is still plied with food and drink as in the old ways of tradition.

For anyone who isn't all partied out, the 1st of January sees the continuation of the celebrations, and this year in Edinburgh the Royal Mile is the place to be. Feet First is a new and innovative event that will be taking place here, continuing the traditions of outdoor entertainment in this area, Feet First will weave music, song, theatre, light and sound together into a celebration of the start of the year. Featuring over 120 performers it's expected to attract up to 10,000 people and will be one of the largest celebrations of new Scottish work in 2009.

For more on the special tarrifs on Edinburgh Hogmanay accommodation mentioned above, visit our Edinburgh Hogmanay site.

Child's Cheetah Cat Girl Halloween Costume (Size: Small 6-8)

How to Say No When You Don't Want the Food

A friend's doctor said he should lose 10 pounds and so he is trying to break his sugar habit. He generally eats well during the day but his downfall is cookies while watching TV. At an office luncheon when dessert was being served, he said, "No thanks, I don't want any." A well meaning co-worker then foisted dessert on him, shoving it in front of him and saying, "You're doctor is wrong, have some," leaving him staring at the dessert then back to us with a sorrowful look on his face.

Your Friend Is Trying to Make You Happy by Offering You Food

His co-worker probably was not out to sabotage him, but more likely was remembering the last time she said no when she really
wanted to say yes. She wished someone would have made the decision for her, albeit against her wishes, and then she could have eaten the dessert because it wouldn't be polite to refuse (or some other excuse), so now she's doing him the favor. She is wrong, but that's the way people generally are. We all understand the pain of deprivation and want to make it better for each other.

Devise a Plan for Dealing with Sabotaging Food Pushers

First, if you do want some dessert, have some, enjoy it and move on with your life. It is not a big deal to have a dessert, even if you're already over full. It's one eating event out of thousands. But when you are being pushed into something you don't want it's no different than being offered drinks when you're underage; peer pressure doesn't stop because you graduate from high school.

You Don't Have to Explain: Just Say No

If you're making an effort to make better choices, choosing to eat only foods that really appeal to you, and learning to say no when you just don't want any, you can tell the food pusher, "No, thanks," and leave it at that. You don't owe anyone an explanation. You could also take a plate and let it sit there. Most people are so preoccupied with themselves they won't notice whether you're eating. If someone does ask, "Aren't you going to eat your cake," you could say, "In a minute." Keep busy talking and just delay until it's time to go, then discretely set the plate aside.

If you watch the thinner folks at parties you'll notice they talk a lot and eat little. It's difficult to talk and gesture while holding a drink in one hand and a plate of food in the other.

If the food seems to be calling your name and it's becoming more difficult to resist since it's sitting in front of you then simply pretend it is made of plastic, like the display food in a Chinese restaurant. It's not meant to be eaten, just admired. Then admire it all you like.

Why do we need to resort to trickery to make our own food choices? Because food pushers are not going to accept your arguments, no matter how well you state your case, so don't bother fighting a losing battle. You can't change their mind; they want to eat some and they'd feel better if you ate some too. You can't change other people, you can only change yourself.

Remember the next time you feel the urge to push food on someone, food means love in our society, but choice means more. Offer it, and then let it go if they say no.

Child's Toddler Batman Begins Halloween Costume (2-4T)

For parents who are not big fans of sugar, chocolate, or artificial colors and flavors, Halloween presents a real dilemma. You don't want to be the heavy and spoil the fun, but on the other hand, you also may not be eager to deal with a kid who is hyped up on sugar for weeks or even months after the big day. Here are some ways to handle that gargantuan pile of candy:

1.) Let them eat all they want for a certain period of time, then throw out the rest. Share your opinions about health and nutrition with your child, and collaborate together on a time frame that feels relatively okay for both of you.

Expect major indulgence during that time. You are not allowed to make even one tiny little comment like "Are you eating candy again?" or mutter as much as single "I told you so" under your breath. The beauty of this option is that your child gets to experience his own tummy ache, sugar crash, headache, brain fog, or whatever. And when you stay out of it, he's got nowhere to place the blame except the candy.

By the way, I asked my dentist about this, and she said a few days of total indulgence is not likely to lead to tooth decay. It's far more damaging to bathe the teeth in juice, soda, coffee with sugar, or hard candy on a regular basis. So you've got the green light from her to use the approach.

Oh, and if you go this route, you might feel better about it if you focus on serving ultra-nutritious meals during that time.

2.) Let them have one piece a day. When we did this, the candy became a major focus of every day- which kind, when would they get to eat it, could they have just one more piece today, pretty please, Mom? I was the candy controller, which was a job I didn't care for. This option may deprive your child of getting to experience the joys and perils of overindulgence, and thus remove the opportunity for her to learn to regulate her own intake. Some kids will lose interest or forget to ask at some point, and then you can just throw it away.

3.) Do nothing. Just keep serving nutritious meals and snacks, and let them work it out on their own. The idea would be to fill 'em up with tempting and tasty healthy stuff, thus leaving less room for candy and giving their bodies more nutrients with which to process the junk. When my kids were little, I was too much of a nutrition and control freak for this to work for me, but I put it in the list for those of you who are more laid back and trusting than I was.

4.) Buy them off. Some parents pay money, and others prefer to exchange toys or fun activities for the candy. This can work pretty well if the payoff is big and exciting enough. I met hardly any resistance when I made the offer a day or two after Halloween. When they are getting sick of candy anyway, a new toy or trip to the aquarium looks pretty appealing.

5.) Teach them the possible effects that candy could have on their bodies, moods, and concentration, tell them you know that they will figure out what feels best for their bodies, and let it go. Invest your energy in being a good role model and preparing nutritious meals instead.

6.) Substitute healthier versions. Sunspire makes tasty chocolate, Panda makes yummy licorice, and there are lots of other options at your local health food store, including vegan gummy bears!

7.) Argue about it every day until their trick or treat bucket is empty. Tell them their teeth will rot if they keeping eating all that candy. Try to make them feel guilty for liking sweets. And let me know how that works out for ya!

Batman Dark Knight The Joker Deluxe Adult Costume

Includes: Jacket with attached shirt, tie, vest, pants and mask. Gloves and shoes not included. This is an officially licensed Batman costume.
Customer Review: Decent costume, but mask sucks
The clothes are decent, although they form to your body like pajamas rather than a suit. The mask is pathetic. Completely pathetic. This might be a good thing, as it forces you to go with face paint instead of a mask.
Customer Review: The Nightmare Before Halloween
This costume is CHEAP in quality. You're better off shopping at the thrift store. I was very disappointed. I thought "Deluxe" costumes were supposed to be of better quality. And this is the one right under the $300 grand heritage/officially licenced one!!! I expected more. I also got an Elvira costume (fron her website) that was deluxe and it was FAR better!!!

For a novice event planner, nothing is more daunting than the question, "Mom, can I have a Halloween party?" There are Halloween decorations, costumes, recipes and activities to plan, which can be a big task. To throw the best party, try to keep the group small (10 is ideal) and organize Halloween fun games. Whether you're planning for a teenager, a pre-teen or a young child, there are a number of fun and affordable games to keep the entertainment rolling!

Halloween party games for younger kids can range from silly Halloween fun and getting-to-know-you games, to spooky ghost story telling and puzzle solving. An easy first game is "The Name Game," where index cards with monster or Halloween character names written on them are affixed to the back of each guest.

Then the person asks another guest "yes or no" questions until the right answer is guessed. Some kids love "pumpkin golf," which is a homemade golf game made out of a cardboard ramp, a carved pumpkin with an extremely large smile and a mini-golf set. "Ghost hunter" scavenger hunts always go over well for grade school children.

First wrap lollipops up like ghosts using white tissue paper and a black magic marker. Then hide them around the house and write clues about where they could be. To make it more competitive, create teams, such as "the witches," "the goblins" or "the werewolves," and have each team race back to place their lollipops into a bin as they find them, awarding a special prize to the winning team.

Or you may want to put a letter on each ghost that will form ten different Halloween words and award prizes as the kids guess them. You can also turn on "The Monster Mash" and have kids dance like monsters, freezing when the music is stopped. This will definitely have them cackling at the Halloween fun! Check out "Party Game Central" for more do-it-yourself ideas.

If you'd rather buy a few games than make them, then here are some Halloween party suggestions. Little kids will love the "Halloween Role Play Game," which can be purchased for $4.99 at Oriental Trading and plays up to six kids. The game includes a 10" spinner, 6 each of 8 assorted character cards, 6 "surprise" cards and instructions. They'll spin, pick a card and do an action, such as making bump sounds with their feet, talking like Frankenstein, doing the Monster Mash and acting like they've been zapped! Oriental Trading also has "Halloween Bend Game," which is an awesome seasonal version of Twister that kindergartners to teenagers will love! "Color Your Own Halloween Bingo" is another great game you can purchase for almost any age.

"Inflatable Halloween Limbo" or the "Inflatable Spider Ring Toss Game" are sure to add Halloween fun to your child's party. Ouija Boards are always creepy Halloween fun for teens. "Halloween Jenga" may be more your speed, with red and black blocks, custom rules and a special glow-in-the-dark die. If you roll a "pumpkin," then the direction of play is reversed; roll a "haunted house" and remove any piece or roll a "bat" and you can only remove an orange block. The Harry Potter "Scene It" DVD game is another fun one, testing kids of ages 8 and up with trivia from the Harry Potter movies.

One of the best Halloween Party games for adults is the "murder mystery dinner." Each party member will receive an advance invitation with instructions on the role they'll be playing. In your kit, you'll receive instructions on Halloween recipes to cook, what Halloween decorations to set up and even how to dress. Usually, character booklets, scripts and CD or DVDs will guide you through the plot to discover whodunit. A few recommended murder mystery games include: "Lethal Luau Murder Mystery Party Game" with a Hawaiian theme, "A Taste for Wine and Murder" with a Hollywood theme or "A Murder on the Grill" with a summer of 1950s theme. All are from Bepuzzled.

Adult Robot Halloween Costume (Standard Size)

Thanksgiving parades, just like football, turkey and the pumpkin pie, can't be done away with if we are talking Thanksgiving ! Elaborate parades featuring huge floats, musical extravaganza and star-studded entertainment shows on Thanksgiving are regular features of the Thanksgiving holiday and are marked by great pomp and grandeur. It has its origins in the early 20th century and is fashioned to give the festive frenzy a good lift in the hearts of young and old. The Thanksgiving parades are indeed a spectacle for whoever manages to catch sight of one ! Through years now, these street shows and parades of Thanksgiving have become a tradition and are integral to this holiday, held on the fourth Thursday in November.

There's no precise documentation of the origin of the Thanksgiving parades. In all probabilities, Thanksgiving parades had their first observance in the year President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed Thanksgiving as an official holiday. In the context of the Union achievements of the 1863 summer, it's no wonder that an officially declared occasion (more importantly declared by the then President) would have befitting celebrations. Hence parades became a part of the day. But while the military band or uniformed men featured in earlier Thanksgiving parades, today's parades of Thanksgiving mainly consist of musical extravaganza and entertainment shows. Another view is that the first parade of Thanksgiving originated in Philadelphia. It's known as Gimbel's Thanksgiving Parade and is considered to be the first parade of Thanksgiving in the nation's history. The famous American store called Gimbel's kicked off the parade under its name to make a mark. Many other brands followed suit and started holding Thanksgiving parades soon after. And these numerous Thanksgiving parades are telecast on television throughout the United States on Thanksgiving.

Wherever the start of Thanksgiving parades, it was just a matter of years that the significance and tradition of holding parades spread from one corner of the nation to another. Parades are integral to the American culture and the nation has spectacular parades for all the major holidays of the year. Mostly Thanksgiving parades have family-oriented themes and project the message of warmth and thankfulness of the holiday. Also kept in mind is the aspect of making the children happy and make all others smile. So colorful cutouts, huge balloons and amusing floats are there in Thanksgiving parades almost always. The sole aim of Thanksgiving parades is to instill the spirit of festivity in the hearts of the spectators. People feel all gingered up to have a wonderfully warm Thanksgiving Day, wishing each other a happy Thanksgiving and cheering for a good harvest. Many families traditionally set aside a time on Thanksgiving to go and watch Thanksgiving parades. All States in the US hold magnificent parades on Thanksgiving and so, there's no dearth of Thanksgiving parades to hit on the fourth Thursday in November, that is, the Thanksgiving Day.

Thanksgiving parades are thus a very significant cultural tradition of America these days and are designed for all races and ethnicities. All the major States and cities of the nation can boast of the best Thanksgiving parades of the entire nation. And if you're in the nation on Thanksgiving, do not pass up the chance to catch the spectacles hitting the streets on this favorite family holiday of the year !
