63" Gothic Velvet Cloaks Halloween Costume Capes

63" Gothic Velvet Cloaks Halloween Costume Capes red with collar. made of deluxe crushed velvet fabric.

The holidays are a magical time and to the Italians, La Vigilia (the vigil) is considered the most magical and festive night of the year. Italians share a rich culture, a zest for life, a love of good food, and strong religious and family values. Holiday meals are an integral part of our social culture, and while every culture has its own traditions, no culture celebrates tradition with more passion than the Italians. Christmas Eve is a special time for family and friends to gather together to celebrate, reminisce about the past, create new memories and share a delicious meal of seasonal foods.

Cena della Vigilia (the dinner of the vigil), the traditional Italian Christmas Eve dinner, known as Festa dei Sette Pesci or Feast of the Seven Fishes, is a meal without meat, honoring the midnight birth of the baby Jesus; a custom that originated in southern Italy and has since spread throughout Italy and around the world. Today many Italians and Italian-Americans still celebrate this old-world custom that has been handed down from generation to generation.

There are several religious theories that support the origin of this symbolic feast but the most popular belief is that the seven fishes signify the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church. The meal is also believed to bring buona fortuna (good fortune) in the New Year.

In order to honor this ancient tradition, a variety of seven different fish must be served, and while the menu and preparation varies from region to region and family to family, traditionally it is a meal that begins with antipastos and bread, soup and salad, an abundant feast of seven types of fish, pastas, vegetables and ending with an assortment of dolce served with espresso, Anisette or Sambuca. This celebratory feast captures the spirit of Christmas and offers Italians a chance to unite with their families while honoring their faith.

However you celebrate this season of miracles, may you be surrounded by the love of family and friends, and may the spirit of Christmas fill your heart with peace, joy and hope for the new year.

Buon Natale e felice anno nuovo!

Deluxe Kid Jedi Robe

This licensed kids deluxe Jedi robe is made of a heavy cotton weave and allows for excellent range of motion for saber battle! Young Star Wars fans will love the deluxe quality of this cloak. Comes in three child sizes.

Ann Vertel wrote a blog post that essentially said if you look at kids that trick or treat, they don't get all worked up about which houses don't have their lights on. The direct sales correlation is that we as direct selling consultants shouldn't get worked up over the people that don't want to participate in or business - either by booking buying or recruiting. In essence, they've "turned off their house lights" and we shouldn't take it personally - just move on to the next house and collect our goodies elsewhere.

But as I thought more about the correlation to Halloween, there's even more you can take away from this holiday and incorporate into your network marketing business:

1. Those parents at the curb.

On your first Halloween, a trusted adult probably walked the whole neighborhood with you, holding your hand, walking you right up to the door and showing you exactly how to say the magic words that opened the door to candy paradise. As we mature in our business and "get better at trick or treating", these parents and adults stand at the curb, so we don't look "uncool".

You've either been one or had one - a leader that guides you down the path, watches your actions, and helps you be the best you can be. On your first few attempts at working your business, they might have even held your hand and walked you straight up to the door - even did the knocking for you. They're not doing the work for us. But they've got their watchful eye on us, helping us along the path to the next door, giving us tips on how to make the next house even better than the last. Don't be ungrateful, but don't expect them to do the work for you. If you want the goodies - you've got to get the training (from your leaders) - then you've got to say the words to get them!

2. Those "Candy Grabbers"

Every Halloween has it's share of killjoys that run around the 'hood snatching the bags of little kids. Those bullies get their kicks takin' candy from babies and making mischief on Hallow's Eve. Do the other kids stop going from house to house? Naah. Do the homeowners stop passing out the goodies? Of course not!

Whether we want to admit it or not, there's a crowd of people in direct sales that gives the industry a bad name - but it doesn't mean that everyone is going to give up and go home. On the contrary. I know for myself that when I was confronted with a bully on Halloween night, I just went back and tried double hard to recover my losses. Now that I'm older and wiser, I know there are plenty more neighborhood to visit when searching for direct sales gold.

3. Sorting the Goodies from the Maple Buns

Oh how I hated the Maple Bun as a kid. We'd trade those things away as fast as we got them - if we could. We took notes each year about which houses had the best candy, and which ones weren't worth the trek up the long driveway for the tiny little maple bun they'd drop in your bag with a toothy grin. Mom would, of course, check out each wrapper to ensure safety and collect her obligatory fee for so doing.

As network marketers, we have to do our own sorting. Some "goodies" will be great additions to our team, and others will start out looking good, but you'll find the wrapper's not all there. And of course, you'll end up with a Maple Bun or two, but realize that the better you get at identifying the King Size candy from the Maple Buns, the easier the sorting becomes. The only way to get good is to keep practicing.

So this festive holiday, as you're standing at the curb with the little tykes, perhaps do some trick or treating of your own. I frequently pass out free samples to the moms as we're trekking the 'hood together. It allows us to strike up conversations while we shiver in the cold with our little trolls, princesses, and ninjas. Do they all book a party or join my team? Nope. And we all just keep moving on to the next house.

Zoo Keeper Animal Trainer Child Halloween Costume Size 4-6 Small (B570)

Zoo Keeper Animal Trainer Child Halloween Costume Size 4-6 Small includes: Safari jacket, pants, belt with buckle, safari hat, and monkey toy.

The right crawfish pot is a great beginning to a fabulous boiled crawfish recipe. All of us wanna-be "Food Network" chefs want to emulate our favorite cooks but always slack on the needed kitchen equipment. We fake it and use whatever is near and dear, but who knows just how great that recipe could have been?

Crawfish is one of the funniest looking crustaceans you would ever want to meet. And no matter how strange looking they are, once you remove them from the crawfish pot and start eating, you completely forget about looks.

Do I Really Want A Mud Bugger?

Crawfish otherwise known as mud buggers or crayfish are from the shrimp and lobster family with a hard outer shell and small meager meat in the claw. They are harvested from swamps, bayous and lakes and are one of the most important and popular elements of the Louisiana cuisine.

Boiling is the most popular form of cooking crawfish and that is what makes the crawfish pot such an important part of the boiled crawfish recipe.

Just how significant is a crawfish pot? Does it really make or break your crawfish recipe? It surely does make a difference.

Crawfish pots are created wide and deep for all the ingredients. Many people are not familiar with Louisiana cooking and do not realize all the elements of an authentic Louisiana dish.

You see, when you cook crawfish that is not the only ingredient being thrown into the crawfish pot. You have garlic, onions, potatoes, andouille sausage, corn and Creole or Cajun seasoning and that's only one version of a hundred recipes for crawfish in Louisiana.

The crawfish pot is important because the bigger the party, the bigger the dish and therefore the crawfish pot will certainly make a difference to your recipe. How many pounds will you cook? Twenty pounds, forty pounds or more starts the party which could very well turn into a weekend event.

Cooking crawfish in the crawfish pot, cooling, peeling and eating are all a delicate science to this recipe. Preparation beforehand must be exact; some salt the crawfish and some don't but to properly clean these little "mud buggers" you must soak and soak until they render all their inner mud puddles outwards before the cooking begins.

Do not jump to the crawfish pot too soon. Complete the cleaning and onto the separation of the dead from the live crawfish. Now onto the crawfish pot for a quick boil.

All that work to get the mud buggers ready for the crawfish pot and when their ready to be removed from the pot, you still need to sit and peel them.

Many will say this seems like too much work for such a small crustacean with little to no meat however just the joy of sharing the Louisiana history of the crawfish recipes amongst friends is well worth the time and effort.

While you're planning your next crawfish get together don't forget to figure out what size crawfish pot you will need to accommodate all the old and new faces ready to party.

My name is Dianna Smith and I live in Texas with my husband and two daughters. My husband is from New Orleans. My in-laws lost most of their possessions due to hurricane Katrina. This included the family recipe book. So, I decided to create a website, Cooking New Orleans Style, where the family recipes could be viewed by all of our displaced friends and family.

Please visit my website at http://www.Cooking-New-Orleans-Style.com/ for more Cajun and Creole recipes.

Customer Review: Goddess Costume
I loved everything about my costume. I did send it back to exchange sizes and felt it took a little long to get sent back. An email or letter would have put my mind at ease but I can assure you that the customer service phone assistance was of great help and answered all of my questions. For the future, I would only recommend getting in touch with the customer when returns or exchanges happen. Thanks guys! =)

A well-planned party seems to run flawlessly. Drinks flow, food is served and cleared away, and there never seems to be any mess! Creating a smooth-running catered event is more than just arriving with food and drink. There is a fair bit of science behind a fabulous party! When a caterer asks you a lot of questions before giving you a full estimate, it is because they are trying to determine all the variables in the "party equation." This way, they can determine the perfect menu and amount of items needed to send to your party to make your event a success!

Here are some things to keep in mind.

Budget

This might seem daunting, but it is the most important first step in creating your menu. Have some sort of budget in mind before approaching your caterer. Menus come in all price ranges and knowing your budget will help your caterer fit a menu to your event.

Buffet vs. Plated Dinner

A buffet or food stations are typically less expensive than a sit down dinner, but this depends on the menu choices and the level of service required. Food can be served cold, hot in chafing dishes or prepared on site by station Chefs. Sit-down dinners require having Chefs on site to prepare and plate your meal as well as additional staff to serve all of your guests at the same time. The food for plated meals requires one or more ovens on site to ensure that all of the food is served hot and in a timely manner

Cocktail Reception

Cocktail receptions are perfect for any occasion, at any time of the day. Bite sized hors d'oeuvres and elegant platters can bridge the gap between meals or be substantial enough to be your main meal, including breakfast! Estimate 3 - 5 bites per person before dinner, 7 - 14 bites for an early afternoon event and 15 - 20 bites in lieu of a traditional dinner.

Event Planning

What do you expect from your caterer? Do you just want to have food delivered to you or do you require help in planning your annual summer soire or perfect wedding? Be very clear what your expectations are and what you may need assistance with.

Tastings

Most caterers offer "tastings" for large staffed events. Once you have confirmed the booking of your event with a deposit, most caterers will not charge for this service. If you are just shopping around you should expect to pay.

In the end, successful party planning doesn't have to be that difficult, with proper planning you'll really achieve the goal of being a guest at your own party.

Egyptian Cleopatra Child Halloween Costume Size 8-10 Medium (D49702M)(DF38)

Egyptian Cleopatra Child Halloween Costume Size 8-10 Medium includes: Dress w/ attached belt, neckpiece, headpiece and cape w/ attached armband and cuffs.

There are many crafters that have turned their hobbies into lucrative small businesses. Sewing fabric handbags is one example of a craft business that can lead to a profitable work at home income. With the right marketing skills and business know-how, this income-generating hobby even has the potential to grow beyond your typical homebased business. Take the Vera Bradley company, for example. Started by two friends, their line of quilted bags and purses grew in popularity, and now Vera Bradley is a well-known multi-million dollar company.

If you are interested in sewing fabric handbags for income, there are a few things you must consider. First and foremost, how are your sewing skills? Initially, it's unlikely that you will be outsourcing the work, so you need to make sure you can sew. For the most part, fabric handbags are not that difficult to make. You can start with simple totes, and then as your skills improve, you can diversify by sewing more complicated designs.

If your experience is limited, or if you can't remember the last time you actually used your sewing machine, it may be a good idea to take a class. Many fabric stores offer classes, or if not, should be able to point you in the right direction.

To maximize your income potential, and to minimize future problems with tax liabilities, it is a good idea to talk to an accountant. An accountant will be able to help you with all business aspects of your startup, from how to track and report your income and expenses, to filing the required forms so that you will be able to purchase fabrics and other supplies at wholesale cost.

Many crafting businesses operate as sole proprietorships. However, if you are interested in setting up an LLC or corporation for your business, an accountant or attorney will also be able to provide advice and suggestions regarding this.

Another important aspect of starting this type of crafting business is determining how you will market your handmade handbags. If you are interested in attaining local customers only, selling through consignment boutiques and setting up booths at craft fairs, flea markets, and farmers' markets are good ways to market your bags locally.

However, if you want to expand your customer base, the internet offers a multitude of opportunities to market your handbags. Although setting up your own website may come to mind first, and this option is certainly viable, there is a significant learning curve involved. You will need to familiarize yourself with website design, search engine optimization, and other ways to drive traffic to your website and convert visitors to buyers. These can be outsourced if your budget allows.

If starting your own website seems overwhelming, you can still tap into the online global marketplace by selling your fabric handbags through sites such as Etsy and eBay. These sites, as well as similar ones, simplify the process of selling online. Also, because of the high number of visitors they receive, there is a good chance you will receive a fair amount of buying customers to your listings.

There is a strong demand in the marketplace for handmade fabric handbags. Although there is much involved with starting a homebased craft business, the rewards are worth it.

Dawn Hall blogs about fabric handbags on her site, where you can also find out more about the Vera Bradley company.

Sexy Cheeky Butt Out Cowgirl Halloween Costume - SMALL

Sexy cowgirl costume includes cowboy hat, neckband, bra top with faux fur trim, pant legs with faux fur, belt and thong. (pants looks like chaps)

Creative Halloween costumes are the focus of many mothers who are stretching their imaginations to find clever disguises for their children's trick or treat time or Halloween carnival. The best Halloween costumes might win prizes, or at least get the attention of other partygoers. The best Halloween costumes are sometimes planned for an entire year, and the focus on what one will wear on the big Halloween night is dominant for weeks before Halloween arrives.

But, before getting creative with creative Halloween costumes, perhaps a reevaluation of what creative Halloween costumes are portraying and what the best Halloween costumes generally speak of, should be undertaken. As innocent as miniature black witches and small orange pumpkins with legs are, they might be demonstrating a message that Christians want to stay away from. Living in the world and not being of the world is not easy, but is definitely a call on every Christian's life. Before attempting the best Halloween costumes ever, conduct a little research on the origins of Halloween and what scripture has to say about the whole affair. Also, click the links below to take an enlightening quiz on Halloween.

Creative Halloween costumes began thousands of years ago when the ancient Celtic people wore disguises to hide themselves on the feast of Samhain, when those who were dead were allowed to roam the earth. On this night of the dead, the Celtics believed, the spirits would roam about and wreak havoc on unsuspecting, or suspecting and fearful, humans. A ghoulish costume could keep a spirit from recognizing a human. The best Halloween costumes today are generally considered to be replicas of these ancient, but false religions. Other best Halloween costumes include witches and sorcerers. God forbids practicing witchcraft and sorcery, and to represent something that is detestable to the One who died for our sins is appalling.

Getting informed is exercising wisdom. God's word encourages that we search the scriptures and discern and test everything by the wisdom illustrated there. "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearances of evil." (1 Thessalonians 5:21-22) To clearly understand where the lines of innocent creative Halloween costumes and glorifying evil practices fall, will need to be clear to the Christian.

To create the best Halloween costumes, first create an atmosphere that is glorifying God and not the forces that work against Him. To have the best Halloween costume is to put on the robes of righteousness, "I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness as a bride groom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels." (Isaiah 61:10) Consider the most creative Halloween costumes, costumes that will speak of the truth of whom you, as a Christian, belong to. Perhaps the best creative Halloween costumes will be Bible character attending your church or small gathering to glorify God. Be sure and take the Halloween Quiz.

Two Bit Roar Gorilla Mask w/ Moving Mouth Action Adult Halloween Costume Accessory (DM4507)(DZ6)

Two Bit Roar Gorilla Mask w/ Moving Mouth Action Adult Halloween Costume Accessory

Phases of the moon. In Black Magic the most important phases of the Moon are the New (dark) Moon, when it sheds little to no light and the Full Moon. The Full Moon is important in most enchanting rituals, it is also important to most power rituals. The New Moon is very important to spirit summoning and all aspects of necromancy. It is also the best time for Banishing and Destruction rituals of all kinds. Such work is best done in the deepest of darks.

Times. Early Morning is the Best time to do renewal rituals, as well as any that involve something new. The new day is the best time to usher in things. Midday has little importance for Dark Magic. It is a good time for rituals involving middle of the road topics, like getting good grades on a mid term or getting an answer about a faultering relationship. Twilight is an important time for Dark Magic. It is the in between time, and is the time for preparing yourself. you are; in essence, stepping from Normal reality to Magic reality. Obviously the most important time for Dark Magic is the deep dark from 12AM to 4AM. Midnight is the best time for all spirit based magic. The Coldest and Darkest period between 2 and 4 is best for Destruction rituals. Midnight to one is the best time for all Power and Wealth based rituals.

    The Holidays.

Most important to us is Halloween or Samhain (pronounced Sow-en). It is the period when the veil between the spirit world and ours is thinnest. Save your most important ritual for this day. The best time to do your ritual is Midnight between the 30th and 31st. Any rituals are ok for Samhain, but anything far-reaching and very important to you is best.

The winter Solstice or yule on Dec 21st is also very important. It is the longest period of dark of the year. It is a good time for doing rituals for others. Dark Magic is often very selfish in nature, but since doing things for others feels good theres no reason not to.

Imbolc or Candlemass (aka groundhogs day) on Feb 1st is a time for celebrating winter being half over. It is also a very good time for rituals involving cold. For some reason seeking rituals work well this time of year.

The Spring Equinox on Mar 21st, or ostra is the celebration of winters end. It is a good time for rituals for new beginnings.

Beltane on May 1st (mayday) is the Proper Spring festival. It is the best time for rituals involving sex, seeking love or ensnaring hearts. Also very good time for any fertility rituals you might want to do. It is also another period of closeness for the spirit world, summoning a guardian is best done this time of year.

The Summer Solstice. Not a potent time for The Dark Magic practitioner. Best for Green and White Magic. However it is a good time for any rituals involving protection or growth.

Lammas on Aug 2. Another Holiday that is not potent for our work. It is a good time to enchant items for future rituals.

Mabon, the Fall Equinox on Spt 21st is a time for reaping what you've sown through the year. Its the Harvest Festival. you will want to do a ritual to gather the potent energies that are bountiful this time of year. Putting the energy into something for your Halloween Ritual is a must.

Marie Antoinette Wig (Light Pink) Adult Halloween Costume Accessory (DW2467426)(DF37)

Marie Antoinette Wig (Light Pink) Adult Halloween Costume Accessory

The Joker Halloween costume is possibly the most sought after outfit this trick or treat season. It's easy to understand why! It's a very fun outfit to create yourself, recognizable and scary! It's got all the appeal and potential of the perfect costume. Although this Joker Heath character will be seen everywhere, creating your own costume will give it a personality of it's own making it unique. That's what makes a character like this so much fun at Halloween. But why not take it a step further?

Actually, finding the props from this Dark Knight villain is getting tougher and more expensive as October 31st approaches. A lot of the reason for this buying frenzy is the fact that Halloween falls on a Friday this year. More adults than ever before are buying up the hard to find hexagon shirt, purple coat, vest and pants. Here are a few alternative ideas to consider:

The nurse costume is a good choice. The thought alone is quite freaky and the hospital scene with Two Face left quite an impact on many who saw the movie. The costume does not require nearly as much work. Nurses outfits are readily available at thrift stores or can be bought at a uniform shop. Maybe you even know a nurse who can lend you one! The makeup remains the same, grab a surgical mask or make one. A clip board or folding book would do for the additional prop. Although there was a gun in the scene, it's not really necessary. Possibly some white nylons and shoes but again, not really necessary. The nurse will definitely be popular but you won't see as many Joker nurse's as just joker's. But how about a real off the wall idea? Something really unique?

If you run with this next original idea you will likely be the only one at your party if not your town! You might even be the subject of the next viral video on youtube! Ok, I'll spill the beans. Why not make a Ronald McDonald Joker Heath costume? Finding clothes to resemble the famous golden arches mascot shouldn't be too difficult. It wouldn't have to be exact because you can carry a happy meal or just a take out bag in one hand to drive home the point. Just having those red stripes and golden clothing will do it. Some oversized red shoes would help too! Of course, the facial makeup will be the scary Batman joker makeup. Possibly a joker knife prop in the other hand. These knives are readily available, especially the plastic fake prop ones and they are cheap too!

So there you go. Two more ideas for you. Hopefully this will get your mind thinking of more ideas. Being a little unique is always a good thing for winning a contest or impressing your fellow co-workers at the company party. So get cracking! Halloween is right around the corner.

Hello, my name is Ray Sherman. Feel free to run with my scary Ronald McDonald Joker idea. Just promise me you'll stop in for a Big Mac on your way to the party! Whatever you decide to create you'll need to get started on your costume props soon. I for one am very excited about Halloween this year. I am an avid collector of Batman movie memorabilia and particularly fond of the Joker. It goes without saying what I am going to be this year and yes, my costume has been complete for some time now! Thank you for taking the time to read my article. Be sure to visit my website at http://www.JokerHeathCollectibles.com and good luck with your Halloween costume, whatever it may be!

    Adult Men's Gilligan Halloween Costume

Times are tough this year. There's no doubt about that. Unless you're a multi-millionaire chances are you're feeling the pinch like the rest of us. With that in mind all of us are definitely looking to conserve our spending even during special times like Halloween. Who wants to spend a fortune on a costume that will more than likely be used just once! To help out in these trying times, I have gathered some great costume ideas that won't break the bank. Now these are not stupid cardboard box ideas or sheets draped over your head or anything like that. These are actually really creative and depending on how much effort you put into it, they can look better than some of those expensive costumes your friends will probably wind up buying.

    1. Men in Black - Most of us (men) own a black suit and sunglasses. If you don't have either, try borrowing a black suit and a black pair of sunglasses. Someone you know has got to have these items sitting around somewhere. Don't forget a black pair of socks, black pair of dress shoes, black tie, and a white button up shirt.

    2. Guys go as a girl - I'll let you know how I dressed one Halloween without having to put on a tight skirt and high heels fumbling around everywhere. I went as an old Hawaiian woman by borrowing an old Muumuu dress from a friend's mom, and a curly wig with some spectacles and sandals. The good thing about the Muumuu is that it's loose so you don't have to worry about tight fits. As for makeup, you can borrow that from any female.

    3. Girls go as Guys - This should be really easy for girls. Guy's clothes are always bigger so there's no issue with fitting into them. Secondly, you just need a baseball cap to hide your long hair. Third, you can just paint on a mustache and beard or buy one since there relatively cheap.

    4. Sara Morgan from the Ring - All you need is a long dark dress, some light makeup to emulate a pale complexion and a long dark wig unless you already have long dark hair. If you need to purchase a wig, get the cheap ones as you are trying to achieve a messy look. Finally, you want some dark lipstick or makeup to paint around your eyes and lips.

    5. Clown - A scary clown is what I would personally go with. You'll need a white ruffled shirt, overalls, red wig or you can dye your hair red, and white and black makeup. Some of these items such as the shirt and overalls can be found at a thrift store and the makeup at a local store carrying Halloween supplies. This costume may cost you the most out of the ones I listed but still cheaper than purchasing a new costume. As for the makeup, remember the movie, the Crow? Remember how his face was painted? That's the look you're going for. Visualize that with red spiky hair and the outfit. You'll definitely be the "IT" at the party.

Halloween is a fun time but it certainly doesn't have to break the bank. Times are tough and we're all feeling the pinch. Learn some cool free tips at http://www.helpfulhalloweentips.com Have a safe and wonderful Halloween!

Dog Costume - Hot Diggity Dog Halloween Costume (Hot Dog w/Ketchup) - Medium

HOT DIGGITY DOG: This Halloween, your dog will really be the HOT DOG you always knew he or she could be. This Medium Costume is topped with Ketchup.
    Customer Review: Hot Dog Brandy
I was well pleased with this product. Shipping was lightning fast. It was correct size and was the hit of family get-together.
Customer Review: Didn't stay on very well...
This costume is interesting. It is pretty flimzy across the back. It just straps under the tummy. We couldn't get it to stay on our dog.

There are five things you must avoid on the day to ensure you arrive with the spirit of Christmas in your heart. You want to contribute to creating joyous and magical memories that you can all cherish. So here are the top five things to avoid:

    1. Judgment - don't judge! It's absolutely imperative that you put your judgments and opinions to the side for this day. Better still leave them at the door!

    2. Unforgiveness - forgive! If you are harboring ill feelings about someone, now is the time to let them go. Unforgiveness is like stabbing yourself in the arm and expecting the other person to feel it - they don't! You hold the pain - not them! Let it go by choosing to see the gift of learning being presented. What is the quality evident that you don't like? The gift here is for you to look at and improve this quality in yourself. Remember you cannot change the other person but you can change yourself and your attitude. Forgive and free yourself of this negative energy. Peace will be your gift to you and others on the day!

    3. Talking about yourself - show interest in others! Did you know that the best way to get someone to like you is to get them talking about themselves. Yes it's true! They will relish in you showing interest in them. What a gift! So, rather than talking lots about yourself, keep it short and ask lots questions to show genuine interest in others on the day - they will connect with you on a much deeper level and joy will prevail!

    4. Drinking without a limit! Too many drinks have ruined the good spirit of the day by people saying things they usually would not have. Don't put yourself in a position where you are not presenting at your best. Know your limit, be aware of what you are drinking and stick to a plan so you don't ruin the day for yourself or others. A good tip is to limit yourself to two drinks per hour, sip on them and drink lots of water in between.

    5. Being too serious - lighten up and have some fun! Do you know that the shortest distance between two people is a good joke or laugh! Laughter is the best way to reduce stress, get people interacting, lighten the mood and connect with each other at a joyous level. Ensure you have a well rehearsed set of jokes to bring along on the day. Everyone will appreciate them. If you feel too shy then type them up and put them into a box and get the children to take turns and read one out at every half hour. There are lots of great Christmas jokes that will add fun and merry making to your day available on the internet.

Now you're guaranteed a great day!

    Happy Halloween to Everyone!

Last night (after a VERY long day writing my "One Time Offers" in readiness for my "Internet Marketing Success Academy" launch) I decided to put my feet up with a nice-big glass of red wine in front of the TV.

Now don't get the wrong idea here - I'm not usually prone to watching much TV. Fact is I think so much TV these days is just not good for you. Especially the news, which seems to be nothing more than opportunity to watch the most depressing show in town. Seriously, in my opinion the "news" should could with a government health warning!

Anyway - here I was, TV remote in one hand and a glass of red in the other sat in "dad's chair in front of the 54″ TV and Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares come on. Rather apt given that it's Halloween.

The show is based on Gordon going in to "failing" restaurants and basically turning them around. Last night he was in a "Fish Restaurant" in Brighton UK. Without going in to too much detail here, lets just say this place was a disaster and was literally costing the owner his home. Their takings were sometimes as low as 3.38 ($6.76) for a FULL days work...The place was losing 1,000 ($2,000) every single week.

The over-whelming thing that came through (once again) as Gordon tried to help the owner was that the owner didn't want to take Gordon's advice...

Strange when you consider that Gordon is widely recognised as one of the best chefs in the world and has been INVITED in to give his advice!

One of the first things Gordon did (after he'd seen what they were serving) was to go out in to Brighton and ASK what people actually thought about the restaurant.

    1. Why didn't they like it?
    2. What would make them come and use it?

Armed with the "Prospects" answers he took his advice and laid out a plan for the owner to follow. Strangely enough, the biggest resistance to change the owner had, was to change the decor inside.

He actually loved the way he had "done his place out". I mean "what the 'f' does 'effin' Gordon Ramsey know..."

Well actually he knew that the prospects & customers "hated" the decor of the place. By the way it wasn't to my taste either BUT it wasn't that bad. However...

The point is WITHOUT asking the prospects he would have never have known that the dcor was putting people off. As were the prices...As was the menu....

This is exactly what we marketers mean when we say things like, "you must know/research your market..." - "find a hungry crowd..." (no pun intended!)

The restaurant is now a HUGE success. The amazing thing is, Gordon maybe one of the worlds top chefs but he didn't do anything special to the food. He didn't give the chefs a master class in cooking...

He simply put his "Business" head on and asked his prospects what they wanted and then gave it to them. Plain & Simple.

I have to tell you, it was some of the most compelling TV I've seen in a long time. Hats off to Mr Ramsey!

Can you apply this to your business? Would you like or need a Gordon Ramsey type person to come in and sort your Internet Business out?

Curious George Costumes Infant/Toddlers Halloween Costume

Curious George Costumes Infant/Toddlers Halloween Costume costume includes: jumpsuit and headpiece.

Spring is approaching and that means Mother's Day is just around the corner. It seems each year it gets harder and harder to come up with that great Mother's Day gift. The last thing you want to do is add clutter to your mother's home. If you are stumped this year, I have a few ideas that will hopefully get your mind thinking!

New moms. You would think they would be easy to shop for, but there is one mistake that people sometimes make with her - they buy her something for that new baby, thinking that is what she would love most! Now let's think about this. She has carried this baby for nine months, given birth and is now up in the middle of the night. While I'm sure she loves everything about her new bundle, she could use something for HERSELF. A day at a spa might be perfect. Some jewelry perhaps? Absolutely no lingerie! Men, let me give you a little word of advise: most women view gifts of lingerie as a gift to himself. I'll leave it at that.

The busy mom. One of the nicest things you could do is give her the day off! Clean the house (make sure you get the kids involved!), take her out to a nice restaurant or cook for her at home. Make sure she has some time to herself. Maybe the best thing you could do is give her some quiet time.

The "kids are out of the nest mom". This can be a tough one. You now have kids of your own. You know how hard it is to be a parent. Now what do you do for that mom who raised you, but seems to have everything? One of my favorite gifts to give that has become a tradition is something easy, inexpensive and very personal. Most of us now have digital cameras. You probably have loads of pictures on your computer. One great way to store those pictures is on one of the many photo web sites. It is very easy to upload your photos and create albums. You have all those pictures, now what? My mom loves the calendar I make for her every year. For each month I include photos that are relevant to that time of year. I try and mix in photos of all the grand kids, family events, etc. It's a great way for her to have pictures year around, and who doesn't need a calendar? Photo websites have all kinds of great ideas for your photos and they have always been a big hit with my mom!

One of the most important things to do when it comes to Mother's Day, no matter which route you take - a personalized gift, a gift certificate, or just giving her some much needed time alone - make sure you get the kids involved. One way to do this is have them make her a coupon book. Little things that she can "cash in" throughout the year. Some can be big such as a night off from cooking dinner and some can be more on the funny side (although extremely useful) such as 10 minutes of total quite. Whatever you decide to do, make sure your little ones have some hand in it. With older children, make sure they take the time to let their mom know what she means to them. Even if it's just spending the day at home with the family and not running off with friends!

Mother's Day shouldn't be chore to shop for - sometimes just a card will do! Whatever you decide, make sure you let the mom in your life know how important she is, not just on that one day, but all year around!

Adult Cigar Girl Halloween Costume (Large 11-13)

These little Pies are sweet and spicy treats for that use up the Pumpkin flesh that you carve out of your funny Halloween Lanterns. You can use canned pumpkin if you wish, but fresh is best. For an extra crunch you can also sprinkle some toasted Sesame Seeds on half the cookies - use those ones on the top half of the 'pie'. These tasty little morsels will keep quite well in an airtight container, but it's unlikely that you will need to do that as they don't last long.

This quantity will make about 70 cookies which will convert into 35 pies.

    Cookie Ingredients

    2 large egg yolks
    2 cups brown sugar
1 cup vegetable or corn oil
2 cups of cooked pumpkin or 1 can of pumpkin puree
    3 cups of flour
    1 tsp ground cloves
    1 tsp cinnamon
    1 tsp ground ginger
    1 tsp vanilla essence
    Pinch of salt
    1 tsp baking powder
    1 tsp baking soda
2 tbsp of Toasted Sesame Seeds (optional)

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Lightly grease a baking or cookie sheet.

Beat egg yolks and sugar together until well combined and then beat in the oil and vanilla essence.

Sift the dry ingredients together and then add them to the wet mix, beating until the mixture is smooth.

Using a teaspoon, drop small amounts onto the greased sheets.

Sprinkle Sesame Seeds on half of the cookie drops.

    Bake for approximately 12 minutes.

    Pie Filling

2 egg whites, beaten till stiff
    1 tsp Vanilla Essence
    4 tsp milk
    4 tsp flour
    4 cups powdered sugar
    1 cup butter, softened

Mix together all the ingredients except the egg whites.

Beat in the egg whites until well combined.

Spread a spoonful of the filling onto the flat side of a cookie to use as the pie 'bottom', these should be the ones without the sesame seeds.

Place the top on each 'pie' and squeeze together gently.

They will disappear as if by magic!

Alice in Wonderland - Mad Hatter Adult Halloween Costume Size 42 Medium (D6494M)(DP5)

Alice in Wonderland - Mad Hatter Adult Halloween Costume Size 42 Medium includes: Hat, jacket, pants and vest with tie.

These spiders are easy to make and are a great addition to your Halloween Decor.

The supplies you will need are:

    • Styrofoam eggs,
    • One-inch Styrofoam balls,
    • Black pipe cleaners,
    • Tacky glue,
    • Spackle or Joint Compound,
    • Gesso or a Primer of some sort to seal the Spackle,
    • Acrylic paints in black, red, orange and white,
    • Toothpicks

How many Styrofoam balls and eggs you will need depends on how many spiders you want to make. You can use bigger Styrofoam balls and eggs, if you want to have larger spiders. This guide will make spiders about the size of your hand. You can cut the balls and eggs in half to make spiders that can be attached to flat surfaces, such as your windows or refrigerator. If you glue a magnet to the bottom of your spider you could use them as refrigerator magnet. If you leave the Styrofoam ball and egg whole, you can create a spider that stands on its own and it is much creepier looking than the spider with the flat bottom.

To get started you will need to attach your Styrofoam ball and egg together. You do this by putting glue on one end of a toothpick and sticking it in about half way into you Styrofoam ball. Put glue on the other end of the toothpick and insert it half way into the Styrofoam egg. You may want to experiment first on placement of the head in ratio to the egg before you glue it. Where you glue the head can really add some interest to the spider. Do not use a hot glue gun to glue the spider; hot glue will melt the Styrofoam. Let your glue setup completely, you do not want the spider body to fall apart during the next step.

Spread a thin layer of Spackle or joint compound all over the spider body. It can be smoothed out with your fingers. You can use rubber gloves for this step if you prefer. Let the Spackle dry completely, if you have applied a thin coat it wont take long for the Spackle to dry. As a matter of fact, you need to work quickly when applying the Spackle so it doesnt setup before you are ready. Apply a second coat of Spackle to the spider body. After the second coat of Spackle has dried, paint the spider body with one to two coats of gesso or some other primer. You need to prime the Spackle or the Spackle will suck up your paint and you wont have a nice finish on your spiders.

Once the primer has dried on your spider body it is time to paint your spider. Paint the spider body with black acrylic paint; making sure to completely cover the body so that the primer does not show through, you may need an additional coat of paint if it does not cover well.

Use a toothpick to make four holes evenly spaced on each side of the spiders body for the legs. Insert the toothpick about a quarter to a half an inch into the body to allow for a good glue hold for the spiders legs. Dip one end of your pipe cleaners into tacky glue and insert a pipe cleaner in each hole that you have just made with the toothpick. Let the glue on the legs setup before you try to move them. While you are waiting for the legs to dry you can add the finishing touches to your spider. Add some red eyes, small dots will do nicely. You can put a design on its back, at this point its up to you on how your finished spider will look. I like to paint a thin coat of watered down glue on the spider and sprinkle them with black glitter, it kind of makes the spider look a little hairy.

After the legs have completely setup, bend the legs up against the spiders body and then bend the pipe cleaner in half. At the end of the pipe cleaner, bend about one quarter to one half and inch of the pipe cleaner out away from the body to form a foot on the spiders leg.

And there you have it, a Great Halloween Spider! For more great holiday decorating and craft ideas, visit us at http://www.theimaginationworkshop.com.

Little painted faces, pointy witch hats, two feet tall clowns, skeleton costumes - it's that time of year again - Halloween is here.

Tell the truth, when you rummage through the basket of your kids trick or treat candy are you checking to make sure it's safe or are you looking for your personal favorite candy bar to munch on?

Sometimes I think there is still a little bit of the child left in each of us. Who can forget the anticipation we all felt as Halloween approached. Don't you remember going out in the dark dressed up in weird costumes with your friends, and depending on your age maybe one parent lingering in the background? Don't you remember the tinge of fear mixed with a tingle of excitement?

Trick or Treat, Trick or Treat, I can still remember the well-intentioned taunt make to smiling parents of your friends and your neighbors. Then there were the nasty older kids who were only out to spoil everyone's fun and throw raw eggs that splattered on doorways and sidewalks. I wonder if they grew up to be bullies or patrons of some other form of anti social behavior.

Today there are also unfortunately the Kooks. The weirdo's who place razor blades in candy, who sneak up behind people and punch them and run off with their cherished possessions and rob them of their self-respect. I guess they are a product of the true state of terror we live in. No one is safe any more, not old people or little children, not the infirm or feeble, not the weakest amongst us, and especially unfortunately not on Halloween. And the worst is that there are terrorists lurking out there in every nook and cranny of our economic and social system waiting to take advantage of this era of our discontent.

The term Halloween (and its alternative rendering Hallowe'en) is shortened from All-hallow-even, as it is the eve of "All Hallows' Day", which is now also known as All Saints' Day. It was a day of religious festivities in various northern European Pagan traditions, until Popes Gregory III and Gregory IV moved the old Christian feast of All Saints' Day from May 13 (which had itself been the date of a pagan holiday, the Feast of the Lemures) to November1. In the ninth century, the Church measured the day as starting at sunset, in accordance with the Florentine calendar. Although All Saints' Day is now considered to occur one day after Halloween, the two holidays were, at that time, celebrated on the same day.
    - Wikipedia

Today carved pumpkins called Jack-o'-lanterns are used to scare off evil spirits and for decorative purposes and the holiday has become popular as a children's event.

Isn't it time we all returned to some basic values and helped our children celebrate a holiday of treats and traditions? Isn't it time we tried to take the fear out of every day living for ourselves and for our kids? Isn't it time we looked inward to our personal clown and started to have some fun again? Why can't we just enjoy the moment?

Let's cherish our traditions. Let's spend some time with our kids. Let's bob for apples not problems. Let's have fun again. Let's give ourselves a treat and not trick ourselves into forgetting who we really are and what we stand for. Don't let a bunch of kooks and terror-nooks spook you. Heartburn can be one of the most uncomfortable, and sometimes painful sensations, and frequently occurs among people of all ages. There are several causes for it, some of which can be eliminated through proper diet or treatment of other ailments that are closely associated with it. There are several medications on the market that are designed to treat and cure heartburn, but, as with many other conditions, there are natural remedies that may be helpful and found in your own kitchen cabinet.

Baking soda is a great way to stave off heartburn. Deposit one teaspoon of baking soda in an eight ounce glass of water and let dissolve. Then, drink the acid water. This is, of course, only a temporary relief, and should be treated as such. If you experience heartburn on a regular basis, you may want to visit a doctor to have it checked for Acid Reflux, which can be more serious than many people think.

Another natural remedy for heartburn is to limit the foods that are causing it. If you are used to eating fried foods, and you frequently experience heartburn soon after eating them, you may want to change your diet. Bake, broil, or steam your food if possible. It may not taste as good in the beginning, but it could make you feel a lot better in the end. It will also help to improve your overall health.

Do not sleep after eating. This will help keep the acid out of the stomach, and reduce your chances of getting heartburn. If you must lie down, elevate your head as much as possible so you will not be lying flat on your back.

Do not wear tight clothes around your waste. Doing this will squeeze your stomach and can force food up, thereby, causing heartburn. Instead, wear clothes that fit comfortably.

Do not overeat. This only expands the stomach and can increase pressure. This pressure can, in turn, force food up and cause the burning sensation commonly known as heartburn to occur.

As stated above, if you do experience frequent heartburn, you should talk to your doctor to see what can be done. Sometimes it is just a matter of changing a few eating or living habits, but other times, it can be a symptom of another condition that should be treated with medication. Your doctor can conduct a simple test to find out if this is the case, and will then be able to properly treat your condition.

    Marquees are for every occasion

Whether it's for a wedding, a party, a gathering, or a family occasion, marquees are a beautiful and extravagant way to celebrate in style and bring people together in a lovely setting.

How to choose the right marquee?

With all the options how are you suppose to choose the right marquee for you and your occasion?

First of all different marquees are better suited for different occasions. For example you'll probably want a more flamboyant marquee for a wedding than you would for a children's 5 year old birthday! Look at photographs of the marquees available so you can really get a feel for how the marquee will look.

Go and visit the marquee companies in person

If you are looking at companies online or are chatting to them over the phone it is a good idea to go and visit them so you can really get across your ideas for your occasion and what it is you are expecting. There are many marquee hiring companies across the UK including South Yorkshire, Sheffield, Yorkshire, Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Doncaster, North Yorkshire, and Manchester where you can go and visit them.

In person you can also discuss what furniture you'd like to hire for the marquee as well, as certain furniture will fit and suit other marquees better than others. Keeping it all consistent with the same design and furniture style will ensure the marquee looking fabulous.

Read testimonials and other customers feedback

The best way to get an idea of a marquee company is to read their customer testimonials many people today have these available on their website, or you can ask the sales person directly for them. If you know someone who has already used a marquee company in your area or county such as Yorkshire, Lancashire for example, you can go to them with a little more confidence knowing they have already delivered a good service.

    Adult Men's Gilligan Halloween Costume

We may all have different images when we think about Halloween (perhaps thinking scary, spooky, candy - my favorite yummy image, costumes, etc.); however those that enjoy Halloween can wrap up a description that consists of 3 letters: F.U.N! Remember the phrase "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"! Just like one dcor may make a person shriek in fear (eeeewwww looking pillow), another may feel that it is perfect for them (ahhhhh zzzzz pillow).

There is one Halloween "economical" dcor that is a true classic. Want to guess what is? I will give you a few seconds to guess.

Okay, time is up - it is synthetic spider webbings! The following is why they are a FANTASTICALLY FUN Halloween dcor and one of my favorite Halloween interior decorating economical secrets:

one small bag can decorate about 4 rooms since the material easily stretches
if you are not fond of spiders, keep the webbing and leave the plastic spiders out (this also keeps people in suusssspense not seeing where the spiders are)
most variety "dollar" stores actually carry them in October (yep, just for about $0.99!); you may even find these at your local pharmacy stores (CVS, Rite Aide, etc.)
you can place then in unexpected places (surprise you friends and family when they come over, and if you forget where you placed them, then you will end up surprising yourself)
it is reusable, so you can use your investment (approx. $0.99) next year!
So, get out of your pajamas and decorate with FUN this Halloween (have fun throughout the
month of October!). If you are worrying about the economy, stop and splurge $1.00 to have FUN with the spider webs!

Make sure that you keep the webs away from: the reach of children (they may just enjoy pulling the web waaaay too much, plus even mistake them for cotton candy), heated areas including light bulbs (to avoid fire hazard), and movable furniture/furnishings (to avoid having to detangle).

Some fun places to place spider webs are:

    1. mirror corners
    2. entryways
    3. doors
    4. ceiling
    5. on artificial plants
    6. candlesticks (perfect for spooky centerpieces)
    7. computer screen (a small amount can give you a smile every time you see it)

So if you want a FUN, economical Halloween dcor that is simple yet SPOOKY, then spiderwebs are just what the Halloween witch doctor recommends. If you want to add more then spiderwebs to your decor or to simply look at some other cool decor, then check Pier 1 store that carry unique fun Halloween items.

    Have a Happy Halloween!

DC Comics The Flash Muscle Chest Deluxe Child Costume

The Flash costume includes: padded red muscle chest jumpsuit with attached yellow boot tops, yellow "lightning" belt, and red headpiece. This is an officially licensed The FlashTM & ©DC Comics product.

Goodie bags, scavenger hunts, charades, cake, balloons -- these are memories that our children will have forever. To get started conceptualizing birthday party ideas, consider place, theme, food, activities and budget. The options are as limitless as the smiles on a successful party day!

Sometimes a fantastic kids birthday party revolves around a certain place. Memorable times will be had by all if you plan your celebration at: a roller rink or ice skating rink, a bowling alley, an indoor waterpark, the local park, a movie theatre, a restaurant (Mcdonalds, Major Magic, Chuckie Cheese), Toys R Us, laser tag, the science museum, a mini-golf / go-cart facility, a paintball place, a rock gym, the zoo, or at a medieval times theatre performance. These are just a few birthday party ideas your kids might love.

Another option is throwing a theme party at your own home. A great starting point for birthday party ideas is Coolest Kid Birthday Parties, where you can find instructions on making unique birthday invitations, find out where to buy partyware, a how-to-make-your-own-decorations guide for each theme, what icebreaker activities and games to plan, where to find costumes, what food to serve and what celebration favors to give out.

It's really a one-stop shop for your celebration planning needs! Planning a kids birthday party doesn't have to be stressful. The only difficult choice is which theme to choose: pirate, superheroes, wild west, knights and princesses, detective, circus, safari, sports, mystery, dinosaurs, Hollywood, army, Hawaiian, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Shrek, American Idol, Transformers, dress up, magic, under the sea, Caribbean, barnyard or medieval?

The general rule of thumb is to pick the theme and then the food. For instance, you might want to make a pineapple cheesecake for a Hawaiian celebration, turkey legs for a pirate celebration, elephant-shaped "peanutbutter and jellyphant" sandwiches for a safari one, or buffalo wings and bronco burgers for a western theme.

If you want to skip the planning and go for cost-efficiency, BBQ hamburgers, subs or sheet pizza is an easy answer. While children generally aren't too picky, remember that for adults, the food makes the celebration.

The hardest part of throwing a kids birthday party is planning activities. Organizing several games to break up the day and keep kids entertained is the key to a successful celebration. You may purchase a slip and slide water game or water balloons for fun summer birthday party ideas.

Bobbing for apples, relay races, pinatas, pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey, tag, magnetic fishing games, musical chairs, Twister and Charades are always classic games. If you want to be really creative and wow the celebration, a scavenger hunt can be a memorable experience.

Check Oriental Trading for some neat prizes and goodie bag ideas. You'll want every child to win a prize, so that no one ends up crying or feeling bad. Your best bet are games where everyone participates, the kids remain active and everyone wins in the end.

For large budgets, select from original birthday party ideas such as: surf simulators, sumo suits, petting zoos, hypnotists, magicians, rock climbs or bounce houses.

For smaller budgets, a simple Slip N Slide, a game of Twister, charades or a treasure hunt can work wonders. Large budgets may require catering, while small budgets can make use of The Dollar Store partyware and sheet pizza.

A visit to Party City or The Dollar Store can also be a huge help. Whether your event consists of balloons, mimes and ponies or pirate decorations or just a cake and a treasure hunt, you aren't alone in your search for birthday party ideas.

The internet has many sources for all-in-one event planning to make this day truly memorable!

Sexy Military Sailor Navy Girl Blue Romper Outfit Skimpy Adult Halloween Pin Up Photo Shoot Costume

Sexy Port O' Call Outfit by Secret Wishes-Rubies

    This Item Includes Romper; Hat

    .

Remote control hobbies have been popular for a long time. Even if you haven't enjoyed playing with your own RC car, helicopter, or boat, remote control vehicles are still fun to watch others play with! In 2008, hobby shops all over the world witnessed a huge surge of interest and excitement about remote control hobbies in general, but particular interest in remote control boats.

It doesn't seem to matter what age you are, either. It's pretty common now to see remote control boats being maneuvered in local streams and creeks adjacent to both urban and suburban parks alike. Just in time for Christmas, those prices are coming down, too.

What's more fun when relaxing by the pool or at the park than watching someone play with an RC boat? Remote control boats and accessories are right around 50% off right now in most hobby shops and online stores. That said, why not get your own?

Educational hobbies that involve remote control toys are a fantastic way to show your young enthusiast how to care for electronic devices. Planning your purchase around sales will keep the sting out of your wallet, too!

Helicopters, rockets, and planes are usually included on r/c aircraft carrier ships. How much fun is that? Right now, instead of the nearly $150.00 and up you could spend on one, they're available for under $79.00. That's a savings of 47%! Pretty good for a remote control boat.

Remote control boats can be small enough to fit into the palm of your hand, or large enough to need its own body of water! Choose from:

    • Bass fishing boats
    • Sailboats
    • Offshore boats
    • Pirate ships, with cannons!
    • Yachts
    • Police boats
    • Even waverunners!

It's important to note that some of these boats can be up to 3ft long and $400.00, but like anything else, you can spend as much as you want to on them! Beginners should go for the bargain, and plan ahead for that kind of spending. It can get expensive.

Maybe I'll see you down by the creek at our local park, playing with my new RC Jet Ski I just got for almost 50% off.

Who am I kidding? That will be my son. I'll be next to him, watching! You've got to be quick around here with your remote control hobbies. They're kind of hard to keep secret.

Unisex Adult Horse Halloween Costume (Size: Large)

Halloween, a day of fright, folklore, goblins and above all fun for all those who are of a mind to simply enjoy themselves by letting loose their imagination however many may ask what is the history behind this holiday that has come to be celebrated through out the world? First off all we might ask what are the origins of the name Halloween and what if any meaning does it have?

Regarding the origins of the word Halloween, the answer is a simple one. It all started many centuries ago when there was a Catholic holiday called "All Martyr's Day"; celebrated on May 13 however it came to be that the date was changed to the 1st of November while the name transformed to All Saint's Day". This change prompted that October 31, the day before came to be known as "All Hollow's Evening". As one can now observe "Halloween" is the short form of these two words, put in to one.

This explains the name Halloween however what about the rest? Where did it came about that people took to putting on customs in an attempt to frighten others? Well the explanation to this lies in Ireland; as it was there and according to the calendar of the Celts that the 1st of November was the first day of the year which made the 31st of October the last day. Tradition had it that on this last day of the year which the Celts referred to as Samhain; the line that separated the living from the dead all but disappeared; making it possible for the souls of the dead to intermingle with the living. However the souls of the dead contacted the living with evil intentions. These being to posses their bodies so they might come back to the world of the living, thus escaping from the spiritual world. It was secure in their believe that ancient Celtics felt the need to put on costumes of fright which they felt would surely ward off those evil spirits which were bound to attempt to posses their bodies.

In a way one could see that this to the Celtics which eventually became a tradition was not really so much a matter of having fun but a form of saving their souls and bodies; therefore it was with this in mind that they also went about their neighborhoods making as much noise as possible. Now in the 21st century, we of course can think of this is as being silly but to the Celts it was anything but as it sometimes happened that after Samhain; a person was even killed by those near him or her who believed the person they were killing was no longer the person they had known but a body inhabited by an evil spirit. Naturally with the passing of the years, faith in the concept that one could have one's body taken waned and Halloween became a more ceremonial event as well as a joyous one for both children and adults.

Now a days for instance in the United States, Halloween is the second biggest money making holiday. Second only to Christmas, as it is during the weeks that lead up to this day that many a person; both very young and not so young go out and purchase a costume in order to attend either a Halloween party or go "trick or treating". Costumes however are not the only items available to those wishing to spend money on the celebration of Halloween as they may also acquire decorations, games and even foods connected with this day of ghosts and witches. Yes, Halloween even serves for the purpose of selling food products such as cakes and other edible objects which are made with decorations pertaining to this very special day of the year. All of which making Halloween a day which has more to it then just putting on strange clothes.

During the last few years however the fad has lead people away from costumes of freight such as ghosts or vampires and in to more diversified fields such as some of the younger ladies dressing up as princesses while some of the boys do so as action heroes such as Batman. Of course there are those who obtain their ideas for dressing up from history books and become Napoleon Bonaparte, George Washington or other such characters whose image has lasted through out the years. I for my part ;if I could find the costume which would make me the character I wish to be? This I can say with all sincerity that I would become Darth Vader or at least for the day that is Halloween. This being the case since I am a huge Star Wars fan.

Halloween in this day and age is celebrated all through out the world and contrary to what many may think it did not start in the United States but in Ireland and it was also there that the idea of bobbing for apples came about as the Romans brought it when they invaded many years later. Another Halloween tradition in the United States is "trick or treating" however this concept is not connected so much with Samhain but with a certain group of people; who during the middle ages performed an act which came to be called "souling". Souling being where a person would knock on somebody's door asking for "soul cakes" in exchange for which he or she would say a prayer for the souls of the dead relatives of the one who should be generous enough to give out "soul cakes". Today however this practice has changed in many ways as it has turned in to children going from door to door saying "trick or treat"; where the person answering the door is confronted with the choice of either giving a treat which might be a sweet or something of the sort or having some dastardly trick played on his home. These tricks however for the most part are harmless and limited to having something written on his or her door with chalk (which can be easily washed away) or some trash being left and rarely if ever go beyond what could be hailed as a prank.

In conclusion we could say that Halloween is a day that can be celebrated by just about anybody given its not being either a religious holiday nor one connected to patriotism; all of which makes it the ideal international holiday it has become. As for myself personally it has been in the time which I have lived in Poland that I have made every effort to bring the tradition of Halloween not only to my daughter, Paullina but to her friends who last year much to my near shock and that of several of the neighbors went out "trick or treating". All of which made me see that my efforts to bring the wonder of Halloween to Poland have not been in vain.

My name is Gianni Truvianni, I am an author who writes with the simple aim of sharing his ideas, thoughts and so much more of what I am with those who are interested in perhaps reading something new. As for the details regarding my life I would say that there is nothing that lifts them above the ordinary. I was born in New York City in 1967 on May 21st and am presently living in Warsaw, Poland where I wrote my first book "New York's Opera Society" now Available on Amazon.
